A multi-wavelength semiconductor laser device is configured with a block 103 that is formed having a rectangular groove 105 with a bottom face 107 and two side faces 109 extending in a predetermined direction. A plurality of laser diodes 111 whose emission wavelengths are different from each other, are mounted on the bottom face 107 and the side faces 109 of the groove formed in the block so that their laser beams emit in the predetermined direction. The groove may expand in cross-section toward its opening. Alternatively, the block may have a "V" shape groove in cross-section or a projection onto which the laser diodes are mounted.
