The heating system comprises two elongate conductors 2 disposed in a spaced parallel arrangement and at least one resistance cable 1, wherein the at least one resistance cable interconnects the two elongate conductors such that a current may pass from one elongate conductor to the other. A potential difference of less than or equal to 50 volts is applied between the two elongate conductors such that the at least one resistance cable provides a heating effect. The potential difference may be less than 6 volts. The heating system may be used as underfloor heating, with the elongate conductors being provided on an upper and a lower side of a carpet underlay, and including toothed formations that engage with the carpet underlay and with the at least one resistance cable to form an electrical connection that generates heat. The heating system may be used in other applications such as curtains, blinds, chairs, sofas, beds and soft furnishings such as blankets and cushions. |
