The device (1) has a chain (5) for limiting displacement of a suspension element (9), where one end (11) of the chain is rigidly fixed in the suspension element and another end (7) of the chain is integrated to a vehicle structure (17) by a reel (3). The chain is rolled on a drum (15). The reel comprises return units whose force varies with respect to rotation of the drum. The return units are constituted by frameworks integrated to the drum and by hubs rigidly fixed to the structure. The frameworks are connected to the hubs by elastically deformable arms that are formed by elastomer bars.
