PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for papermaking, in which defect-causing substances treated with a pitch-controlling agent are collected by an agglomeration effect of the reagent again so as to prevent it from becoming the cause of defect generation on formed paper, and even if adding the reagent to a papermaking raw material after passing through a screen, the reagent is mixed quickly, and a good texture preparation is made favarably. SOLUTION: This method for producing the paper is provided by adding a vinyl polymerization-based cationic or an amphoteric water soluble polymer having ≥1,000 and <5,000,000 weight-average molecular weight and/or a polycondensation-based cationic substance (A) to the papermaking raw material before the papermaking for treating the defect-generating substances in the papermaking raw material, then adding (B) a vinyl polymerization-based ionic water soluble polymer having ≥50 and ≤90% electric charge inclusion coefficient expressed by a definition, and then papermaking.
