<p>A receiver comprises: a plurality of receiving units for receiving the signals of a plurality of broadcast systems; a switch for switching the signals supplied from the plurality of receiving units; a memory for storing, for each of the plurality of receiving units, information of services that can be received by that receiving unit; a control unit for controlling the switching operation of the switch; a decoder for decoding a signal supplied from the switch; and a display unit for displaying the signal supplied from the decoder. If the control unit determines, based on the information stored in the memory, that there are some ones of the plurality of receiving units for which no services are available, then the control unit controls the switching operation of the switch so as not to switch to any one of the receiving units for which no services are available, thereby allowing any one of the broadcast systems, for which services are available, to be effectively switched to.</p> |
