PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly practical hollow fiber carbon membrane for dehydration with excellent acid resistance, heat resistance, separation performance of water from alcoholic aqueous solution. SOLUTION: The hollow fiber carbon membrane 1 incorporating metal ions obtained from polyphenylene oxide derivatives is provided. When producing the hollow fiber carbon membrane 1 by dissolving the polyphenylene oxide derivatives in an organic solvent, extruding the solution into a coagulation liquid using a nozzle, forming it into the hollow fibers and then firing it, metal ions are added to the organic solvent, or the hollow fibers are impregnated with a solution containing the metal ions after forming the hollow fibers. Thus, by making the hollow fibers incorporate metal ions before firing, the hollow fiber carbon membrane 1 incorporating metal ions can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
