PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact smoke detecting alarm by arranging a smoke-detecting light emission part and light reception part around a battery for power supply. SOLUTION: In a casing 1 of the smoke detecting alarm, a battery case 7 storing the battery 6 is installed, and the light emission part 2 and the light reception part 3 for detecting smoke are installed around the battery case 7. The light emission part 2 and the light reception part 3 are disposed such that optical axes thereof cross in a smoke detection area X, and the light reception part 3 receives scattered light generated by irradiation light from the light emission part 2, so that the amount of smoke is detected.
