PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a starting time of an image processing apparatus by shortening a starting time on the side of a controller avoiding the useless consumption of resources. SOLUTION: In an MFP 1 which has an engine 2 which forms a visible image on a sheet-shaped recording medium, a main controller 3 which controls the entire apparatus including the engine 2, and a PSU 11 which supplies power to the engine 2 and the main controller 3, the main controller 3 includes a power saving controller 6 which controls power supply to each part following the state shift between an energy-saving state and a normal state, a DRAM 7 in which an instruction for performing starting processing and data are stored, and the main CPU 4 which controls starting from the energy-saving state to the normal state. The main CPU 4 checks a flag that shows whether starting stored in the DRAM 7 is a cold start or a warm start, and carries out starting processing by selecting the cold start or warm start on the basis of the check result.
