PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength variable light source apparatus that synchronizes the peak wavelength of a resonator loss with the longitudinal mode of an external resonator with high precision, and continuously changes the wavelength without causing mode jumping over a wide range of the wavelength. SOLUTION: On the edge face 1b with no AR coating of a semiconductor gain chip 1, a wavelength selection coat film 11 that reflects a moderate amount of a certain wavelength, is stuck. A resonator (an external resonator) is formed with a movable mirror 4, and laser oscillation occurs with a wavelength determined by a resonator length L. The wavelength selection coat film 11 has reflectivity characteristics which offsets gain wavelength characteristics of the semiconductor gain chip 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
