PURPOSE:To contrive higher dispersion properties, image contrast, only resistance, solvent resistance and optical readability in near infrared region, by using a metallic salt of a higher fatty acid having a specified number of carbon atoms as an electron acceptor. CONSTITUTION:A metallic salt of a 16-35 C higher fatty acid is used as an electron acceptor, in a thermal recording material comprising a chelate color forming layer using a metallic compound. An electron donor is selected from polyhydroxy aromatic compounds, diphenylcarbazide, diphenylcarbazone, hexamethylenetetramine, spirobenzopyran and 1-formyl-4-phenylsemicarbazide, and is combined with the electron acceptor to constitute a thermal color forming system, which is applied to a base thereby providing a thermal color forming layer having excellent dispersion properties, image contrast, oil resistance, solvent resistance and optical readability in near infrared region. The metallic salt of the higher fatty acid means a double salt of the higher fatty acid containing atoms of at least two metals selected from iron, zinc, calcium, aluminum, magnesium, silver and the like associated with the molecule of the higher fatty acid. |
