PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more efficiently cool and clean a power cord-housing chamber by utilizing exhaust on a fan side of an electric blower. SOLUTION: In the vacuum cleaner, an electric blower chamber 3 including the electric blower 4 with a plurality of fan-side exhaust ports 7 formed in the fan 5 and the power cord-housing chamber 23 for housing a take-up device of a power cord 21 are separated and juxtaposed in the lateral direction by a partition wall 16, and a suction port 17 for letting the exhaust from the fan-side exhaust port 7 flow into the power cord-housing chamber 23 is disposed under the partition wall 16. The direction of exhaust guided by an air guide 24 and discharged approximately in the tangential direction of a cylindrical surface in the outer periphery of the fan 5 from the fan-side exhaust ports 7, except for one located at the highest position of the fan-side exhaust ports 7 set in the electric blower chamber 3, does not match the horizontal direction of exhaust just before inflow into the suction port 17. With this structure, low-temperature exhaust on the fan side without including carbon powder can be made to flow, so that fine dust entering the electric blower can be made to hardly flow into the suction port, and the power cord-housing chamber can be more efficiently cooled and cleaned.
