Device and method for milling of materials, wherein a milling cutter body (202; 302; 402; 502; 602), comprising a first end portion (204; 324; 424; 506; 604) and an opposite second end portion (206; 304; 411; 508; 606). The first end portion (204; 324; 424; 506; 604) is connected to a rotatable spindle (208) and the second end portion (206; 304; 411; 508; 606) is provided with at least one cutting edge (213, 215; 307, 309). The milling cutter body (202; 302; 402; 502; 602) defines a longitudinal axis ( x-x ) and is provided with an axial recess (216; 314; 404; 504; 616), wherein at least one mass element (218; 316, 318, 320; 422; 522; 618) is arranged in the recess. The axial position of the mass element (218; 316, 318, 320; 422; 522; 618) in relation to the milling cutter body (202; 302; 402; 502; 602) is tuned by use of tuning members included in the device for the tuning of the natural frequency of the device. The mass element (218; 316, 318, 320; 422; 522; 618) is axially locked in relation to the milling cutter body (202; 302; 402; 502; 602) by use of lock members included in the device, in order to optimize the natural frequency of the device for the milling operation in question. |
