PURPOSE: A method for requesting and reporting information of radio resource and an apparatus thereof in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to reduce network resource for reporting through the monitoring of the status of each base station. CONSTITUTION: A serving base station transmits a primary request message about the first wireless resource information to neighbor base station(S211). In case a reporting message about the first wireless resource information is not received from the neighbor base station, the serving base station transmits the second request message about the first wireless resource information to the neighbor base station in the first cycle(S212,S213). In case the reporting message is not received from the neighbor base station, the serving base station transmits the third request message about the first wireless resource information to the neighbor base station in the longer second cycle(S214~S217).
