PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for calculating inter-vector distance, a program and a recording medium which classify a document into a corresponding one of a predetermined genres at a high speed. SOLUTION: The device for calculating inter-vector distance includes: a word vector database storing a set of combinations of words and vectors corresponding to the words; a genre vector database storing a set of combinations of genres and vectors corresponding to the genres; and an inter-word/genre distance calculating means, for an arbitrary word and genre, calculating distance between a vector of the word in the word vector database and a vector of the genre in the genre vector database, and storing a combination of the word, the genre, and the distance into an inter-word/genre distance database.
