PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a variable rigid shaft surely suppressing noise caused by variation of power transmitted from an internal combustion engine, and controlling to achieve high durability. SOLUTION: When it is determined that detected torque is 200 N/m or less, an ECU starts to carry a current to a low rigid side solenoid of a rigidity switching mechanism, and does not carry the current to a high rigid side solenoid, and right and left variable rigid drive shafts are in the low rigid state (step S6). Next, the ECU compares the detected torque with the set torque, and determines whether the detected torque exceeds 200 N/m or not (step S8). When it is determined that the detected torque exceeds 200 N/m in both of them, the ECU does not carry the current to the low rigid side solenoid of the rigidity switching mechanism (step S9), and starts to carry the current to the high rigid side solenoid, and the right and the left variable rigid drive shafts are in the high rigid state (step S10).
