The invention relates to a household refrigerator (1) and a refrigeration apparatus for a household refrigerator. The household refrigerator comprises a refrigerating chamber housing, which delimits the refrigerating chamber (6) and on which a door leaf is arranged for closing the refrigerating chamber, and the refrigeration apparatus. The refrigeration apparatus is implemented as an independent refrigeration module (10) having an entire refrigeration cycle (12) for cooling the refrigerating chamber, and further having a housing which is separate from the refrigerating chamber housing and in which at least one evaporator (27) of the refrigeration cycle is arranged and which comprises apertures (29, 30), by way of which the air cooled by the evaporator passes through the apertures of the refrigerating chamber housing from outside the refrigerating chamber housing into the refrigerating chamber and air passes from the refrigerating chamber to the evaporator.
