摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper-based sliding member excellent in sulfuration corrosion resistance even when lubricated with lubricating oil including a sulfur-based additive. SOLUTION: A CuS layer 3 is formed as a passivated copper sulfide layer on a surface of copper or a copper alloy 2 working as a sliding layer, and thereby, the CuS layer 3 is inert against sulfuration, and further sulfuration can be prevented. By forming the CuS layer 3 on the surface of the copper-based sliding member 1 in advance before sliding, newly forming of sulfide on the surface of the copper-based sliding member 1 can be prevented during sliding. Therefore, a suitable clearance C used to supply the lubricating oil between the surface of the copper-based sliding member 1 and a surface of a mating member 4 can be maintained, and the CuS layer 3 and the surface of the mating member 4 can be prevented from direct contact with each other to be broken.
