PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for improving reliability of processing of counting bills. SOLUTION: A paper sheet handling device includes: a discrimination part for discriminating a paper sheet; a conveyance part for conveying the paper sheet inside the paper sheet handling device; a control part for controlling each part; and a memory for storing information on the paper sheet. When setting that the paper sheets conveyed by the conveyance part first go through the discrimination part as first conveyance and setting that the paper sheets secondarily go through the discrimination part as second conveyance, the control part makes the discrimination part measure a volume of the paper sheets passing the discrimination part in the first conveyance, associates volume information and conveyance order in the first conveyance and makes the memory store them, makes the discrimination part measure a volume of the paper sheets passing the discrimination part in the second conveyance, and performs comparison processing between volume information of the paper sheets in the second conveyance and volume information of corresponding paper sheets estimated that they are the same paper sheets as the paper sheets derived from the conveyance order in the first conveyance to verify the number of the paper sheets in the first conveyance and the number of the paper sheets in the second conveyance.
