METHOD OF MANUFACTURING RETARDATION FILM, RETARDATION FILM, CIRCULARLY POLARIZED FILM, CIRCULARLY POLARIZED PLATE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-length retardation film which has excellent optical properties and can be produced at high productivity, and from which a circularly polarized film can be produced at high productivity.

SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a long-length retardation film includes: step (S1) where a long-length unstretched film including a resin whose peculiar birefringence value is positive is stretched aslant so as to obtain a first stretched film whose orientation angle θ to the width direction lies in the range of 45°±1°; step (S2) where a long-length unstretched film including a resin whose peculiar birefringence value is negative is stretched aslant so as to obtain a second stretched film whose orientation angle θ to the width direction lies in the range of -45°±1; and step (S3) where the first stretched film and the second stretched film are laminated such that their longitudinal directions are aligned and also their in-plane lagging axes are made parallel to each other so as to obtain a long-length laminate. In the laminate, the orientation angle θ to the width direction lies in the range of 45°±1°, and also, its Nz coefficient is 0.1 to 0.9.
