<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power management system capable of presenting an effect in the case of performing power control of an apparatus that has not been subjected to power control yet, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, when a UI device or a communication control part receives an instruction to calculate an energy saving effect from a user (S101), a control part reads various tables stored in a storage part and acquires information necessary to calculate an energy saving effect (S102). The control part transfers the acquired information to an operation part and instructs the operation part to perform a predetermined operation (S103). An operation expression to be used when the operation part performs an operation is stored beforehand in the storage part, and the operation part reads the operation expression.
