PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently correct the distortion of an image. SOLUTION: This image display device 1 includes a light source device 11, a modulator 103, and a scanning optical system 12. The scanning optical system 12 includes a first scanning mirror 121 for scanning light in the first direction by turning about a first axis 121a, and a second scanning mirror 122 that is arranged at a position which light reflected on the first scanning mirror 121 enters and scans the light in the second direction by turning about a second axis 122a non-parallel with the first axis 121a. The trajectory TR in the second scanning mirror 122 of the light reflected by the first scanning mirror 121 is substantially parallel with the second axis 122a. The optical axis of the light entering the center position of the trajectory TR from the first scanning mirror 121 establishes a condition that is not orthogonal to the second axis 122a.
