PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane that gives 2,2-bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane of high purity suitable as a photosensitive material in a high yield and permits ready separative removal of a catalyst. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises reducing 2,2-bis(3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane in the presence of a catalyst in a state dissolved in a mixed solvent of at least one nitrogen-containing solvent selected from the group consisting of morpholine, N-methylpyrrolidone and N, N-dimethylformamide with a 1-3C lower alcohol.
