PURPOSE: A method for joining steel beams of different heights and steel beams joined by the method are provided to secure strengthened joint between steel beams by transferring stress concentrated on the junctions to end steel beams. CONSTITUTION: A method for joining steel beams of different heights is as follows. While upper flanges(11,21) of two end steel beams(10) and a center steel beam(20) are located on the same line, the end steel beams and the center steel beam are joined. A lower flange(22) of the center steel beam and lower flanges(12) of the end steel beams are connected with a reinforcing plate(30). A side of the reinforcing plate is welded to webs(13) of the end steel beams.
