PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent information, which is output from an information outputting device to an external device, from being used for other purposes than the original object to give disadvantage to a producer or an owner of the copyright of the information.

SOLUTION: When an external device is recognized to operate according to copy control information, digital information is output with unchanged quality. When the external device cannot be recognized to operate according to the copy control information, information restricted in copy is not output. The method can be applied similarly to, for instance, the operation of an output board of a personal computer.
