The mandrel has a cylindrical external wall (3) provided between an attachment end (1) and a receiving end (4). A pneumatic line (6) with an inlet opening (7) at the attachment end comprises a set of outlet openings (8) that is arranged at an end of the cylindrical external wall. Another pneumatic line (9) at the receiving end includes another set of outlet openings (11) at the attachment end. Another inlet opening (10) of the latter pneumatic line is arranged at a front side of the receiving end. An independent claim is also included for a method for holding cylindrical articles.
