PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the operation noise of a vacuum pump. SOLUTION: This vacuum pump includes: a discharge opening 24 opened on a downstream side in the rotating direction of a vane outside of a rotor; and a lead valve 30 provided relative to an opening part of a discharge opening 24 to open/close the discharge opening in response to an increase/decrease of the pressure of the compressed air to be discharged. The lead valve 30 is a butterfly type, and includes: a thin plate-like valve element 32 covering the discharge opening 24; and a stopper 34 for regulating an opening range of the valve element 32. The lead valve 30 is fixed to a housing surface 36 in the state that a base end of the stopper 34 is piled on a base end of the valve element 32.
