PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector for being satisfactorily applied for the detection of the position of an indoor moving body and easily introduced. SOLUTION: The position detector includes a plurality of light-emitting parts 2a and 2b as indoor illuminations for emitting light arranged at different positions and having different optical characteristics, a moving body having a light-receiving part 4 for receiving light emitted from the light-emitting parts 2a and 2b and outputting light strength signals, storage parts 14 and 17 for storing information 5 on the light-emitting parts in which the arrangement positions of the plurality of light-emitting parts 2a and 2b are related to light-emission characteristics, and a position detection computation part 6 for detecting the position of the moving body on the basis of light strength signals for each of the different optical characteristics included in signals output from the light-receiving parts and the information 5 on the light-emitting parts stored in the storage parts 14 and 17.
