PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underwater detection apparatus and a method for displaying underwater detected images which facilitate observation of the swimming conditions of fish body unit. SOLUTION: The underwater detecting apparatus includes detection means (5, 6) for periodically detecting the fish body unitand its position, based on a reception signal which is transmitted into under water and reflected by the fish; a link processing section 71 for linking the same fish body unit fish, based on information of the fish body unit and the position detected periodically; a fish body length calculating section 75 for calculating fish body length, based on a reception signal of the detected fish body unit; a swimming vector calculating section 72 for calculating the swimming vector of the fish body unit; and a display control section 8, which brings a metering mark 92a to correspond to the fish body length and a displacement mark 92b, to correspond to the swimming vector of the fish body unit regarding the linked fish body unit, and displays them at the detected positions of the fish body unit, on a two-dimensional coordinate which is to be displayed on a display 9.
