<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latch structure of a lock that can improve the durability of a coil spring while attaining space saving of a lock case, thereby stabilizing a lock operation over a long period of time to improve reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The latch structure of the lock is provided with: a latch 37 retractably guided to the lock case; a space 71 formed inside the latch 37 and long in the advancing/retreating direction (a) of the latch; a guide shaft 61 held along the longitudinal direction of the space 71 so that a flange part 73 provided on the tip side in the advancing/retreating direction of the latch abuts on the tip side internal wall surface 75 of the space 71; a support column 67 with one end 79 fixed to the lock case and with the other end 81 located in the space 71 and slidably supporting the guide shaft 61 penetrating the other end 81; and a coil spring 63 inserted around the outer periphery of the guide shaft 61 with a clearance so that its tip abuts on the flange part 73 and its base end abuts on the support column 67.
