PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluation of an electronic display medium which enables objective evaluation of visibility in a wide-ranging illumination environment different in illuminance from others, as to the visibility of an image displayed on an electronic display medium of a reflection type. SOLUTION: In the method for evaluation of the electronic display medium, colorimetry of a spectral absorption distribution is performed while being illuminated, as to at least two kinds of images different in reflectance which are displayed on the electronic display medium of the reflection type, and the reflectance relating to each image is computed based on the obtained spectral absorption distribution. In this method, contrast calculation processing for calculating a contrast made by the ratio of the reflectance relating to each image obtained by the computation is performed in a plurality of times so that the illuminances in the images on the electronic display medium brought about by the illumination may differ from each other in the range of 10-2,000 lux, and the visibility of the image displayed on the electronic display medium is evaluated based on the contrast calculated in each time.
