[Class 1 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] Copper acetylide is prepared from a solution of crystallized copper sulphate in water containing ammonia and hydroxylamine hydrochloride by leading in acetylene. Silver acetylide is prepared in the same way from silver nitrate.
