PURPOSE: A shock absorbing device for a building is provided to be easily separated from a building when the device is repaired and to simply and easily repair a damper. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorbing device for a building comprises a frame(101), first and second rods, a damper(130), and a joint. The frame is installed on the wall of a building and has first displacement when an earthquake is generated. One end of the first rod is hinged on one end of the second rod. The damper is hinged on the frame and generates viscous damping force. The joint has second displacement depending on the expansion and rotation of the first and second rods and the damper.
