PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for managing the license of a network operating system installed in a network device are provided to reduce a cost and a time for managing and developing a network operating system(NOS) by developing an universal NOS. CONSTITUTION: A license server(110) is in connection with a network device(130) through a multicast network(120). A plurality of licenses is saved in the license server. The multicast network supports multicast. A host(150) or the network device is in connection with the multicast network in order to receive data. The host or the network device joins a corresponding multicast group by transmitting a multicast group joining message to an upstream multicast router. |
