The liquid pressure damper, particularly a linear damper, comprises a liquid pressure chamber (2) and a throttle opening (6), where a piston (3) is provided as a moving wall of the chamber. A piston rod (4) is provided at the piston for actuating the piston. The chamber has different chamber volumes and a detent mechanism for fixing the piston rod in a moving position. An independent claim is also included for a sliding door system with a sliding door element.
