The detector (110) is provided with a scintillator (112) which is adapted to convert the ionizing radiation (116) to electromagnetic radiation (118), particularly to visible, ultraviolet or infrared light. An organic photovoltaic element (114) is adapted to convert the electromagnetic radiation to an electrical signal (120). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a cleaning device, particularly for cleaning cloth; (2) an irradiation system has a radiation source; (3) a method for detecting ionizing radiation; and (4) a method for monitoring irradiation system.
