The method involves determining a couple of current coordinates, and conforming that the couple of current coordinates and a depression are valid by a couple of determinations of current coordinates and previous coordinates. The determination of the couple of current coordinates is realized such that values of the current coordinates pass from minimum to maximum and vice versa from one determination to another subsequent determination, in the absence of the depression. An independent claim is also included for a device for validation or elimination of coordinate data determination of a resistive touch-sensitive faceplate in an automobile environment when an operator exerts and/or displaces a depression on the touch-sensitive faceplate.
