PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heater chip that gives no damage to an electronic component by heat and that is designed to obtain joining quality uniform in the longitudinal direction of a trowel, and to provide a joining apparatus. SOLUTION: This is a heater chip 10 that joins a workpiece by bringing the chip into pressurized contact with the workpiece or bringing the chip close thereto. The chip includes a serrated trowel part 10a that generates heat by energization and a heat radiating parts 12A-12E that are formed integrally with the trowel part 10a and that extend in fin shapes on the side opposite from the trowel tip 10e of the serrated trowel part.
