摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material in which good adhesion to silica-based foam particles is obtained by using fibrous titanium oxide ultrafine particles as a photocatalyst, and which has air permeability since sprayed fibrous titanium oxide is adhered in a mesh shape and allows the effect of a silica-based foam layer in the inside to appear to the surface side through the mesh-like fibrous titanium oxide ultrafine particle layer, and which is obtained by the simple work of blowing liquid fibrous titanium oxide ultrafine particles to the silica-based foam layer. SOLUTION: The composite material comprising a layer including the silica-based foam and a photocatalyst layer composed of the fibrous titanium oxide ultrafine particles and a method of producing the composite material are disclosed, wherein the average particle size of the silica-based foam is 10-200μm, and the fibrous titanium oxide ultrafine particles have an average fiber width and thickness of 1-50 nm, an average fiber length of 10-1,000 nm, an average aspect ratio of 2-100, and a specified surface area of≥30 m<SP>2</SP>/g.
