PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for supporting a metal foil roll capable of relaxing a stress loaded on a metal foil and suppressing breakage of the metal foil when the metal foil roll is stored, carried or the like. SOLUTION: A cushioning material 6 is placed between the metal foil roll 3 constituted of a winding core 1 and the metal foil 2 wound on this winding core 1 and the bottom part 5 of a supporting tool 4 for supporting this metal foil roll 3. Therefore, the lower part of the metal foil roll 3 is supported by the cushioning material 6, and there arises no possibility of generating deflection of the winding core 1 like a case when only both end parts of the winding core 1 is supported, and the deflection of the metal foil 2 caused by the deflection of the winding core 1 is suppressed. In addition, as the cushioning material 6 supports the lower part of the metal foil 2 under a condition that the cushioning material 6 is pressed and deformed by the lower part of the roll-like metal foil 2; therefore, the deformation of the metal foil roll 3 is suppressed and a contact area between the lower part of the metal foil roll 3 and the cushioning material 6 becomes large and a load applied on the lower part of the metal foil 2 is dispersed, and as the result, the stress loaded on the metal foil 2 is relaxed.
