PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an anisotropic particle, whereby area of an anisotropic part in the anisotropic particle can be readily and precisely changed. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the anisotropic particle 15 includes: a step of applying a liquid 13 onto a substrate 14, provided that the liquid 13 contains a first particle 11 and a matrix material 12 that has an average particle size smaller than that of the first particle 11 and is made of a material different from the first particle 11, or a precursor of the matrix material 12, so as to form a monolayer film of the first particle 11 on the substrate 14, provided that the monolayer film includes the matrix material 12 filled between the first particles 11 to a height lower than the average particle size of the first particles 11; a step of obtaining the anisotropic particle 15 by modifying exposed parts of the first particles 11 that are not covered by the matrix material 12; and a step of separating the anisotropic particle 15 from the substrate 14 and the matrix material 12.
