PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize an internal combustion engine and enhance the power performance irrespective of the degree of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) gas being supplied by reducing appropriately the difference of the EGR ratio from cylinder to cylinder. SOLUTION: An EGR device 10 of this internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders 202 includes an EGR passage 212 connected with the exhaust system of the engine 200 and configured so that part of the exhaust gas can be supplied as the EGR gas from the exhaust system to the suction system of the engine, an EGR surge tank 216 installed at the forefront of the EGR passage and stores the EGR gas, a delivery pipe 218 installed at the forefront and supplies the EGR gas to the plurality of cylinders, a passage changeover means 221 to connect the forefront of the EGR passage to the delivery pipe side and EGR surge tank side selectively, and a control means 100 to control the passage changeover means so that the EGR passage is connected with the EGR surge tank 216 in case the degree of the EGR gas being supplied exceeds a reference value.
