This shut-off valve contains, in a sub-unit which can be removed from the valve body (3), two washers (4, 5) of identical configuration which can be rotated relative to one another and are provided with openings (6, 8). When the openings (6, 8) in the washers (4, 5) overlap, water or some other fluid can flow through the valve. Provided in the openings (8) in the washer (5) arranged on the outlet side are inserts (14) with screen-type walls which, in an effective manner, damp the noises which would otherwise occur due to the high flow rates and turbulence at the weir edges of the openings (6, 8). For this purpose, the inserts extend into the vicinity of the superimposed sealing surfaces of the washers (4, 5). The washers (4, 5) have recesses (16, 17), a leaf spring (18) engaging into the recess (16) of one (4) of the washers in order to anchor this washer (4) firmly against rotation while engaging into the recess of the other washer (5) is the lower end of a spindle (10) for the purpose of rotating this washer (5) for the opening and closing of the valve. <IMAGE>
