PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a columnar member for improving rigidity in a columnar member by adjusting the cross sectional shape of the columnar member, and also to provide an electronic component including the columnar member. SOLUTION: The method of forming a columnar member 16 is the method for forming the columnar member 16 by discharging ink 18 onto a work 14 with a liquid droplet material discharging device 10. When the ink 18 is discharged, a plane pattern 22 is plotted on the work 14. The plotting of the plane pattern 22 is repetitively performed by lamination, so as to form the columnar member 16.
