<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device and a luminaire, capable of preventing excessive electric stress from being applied to circuit elements or discharge lamps immediately after starting. <P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp lighting device includes: a DC power supply unit; a resonator unit constituting a resonance circuit together with a discharge lamp; a switching unit changing the connection between the DC power supply unit and the resonator unit; and a drive unit for output of an AC power from the resonator unit to the discharge lamp by operating the switching unit with a frequency corresponding to voltage between both terminals of the control capacitor. The drive unit is not made to start for a predetermined stop time T1 immediately after starting, and starts after laps of the stop time T1. The voltage between both terminals of the control capacitor can be stabilized during the stop time T1, thereby excessive electric stress can be prevented from being applied to the circuit elements or the discharge lamp immediately after starting even when the discharge lamp is made to restart immediately after stopping of a short time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
