POLYMER ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell and a fuel cell system of low cost, high battery performance, and excellent durability.

SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte fuel cell includes a membrane-electrode assembly with electrodes jointed to both sides of an electrolyte membrane, and peroxide decomposing catalyst containing hardly-soluble carbonate fixed to the electrolyte membrane and/or the electrode. The fuel cell system includes: the polymer electrolyte fuel cell; humidifying channels for supplying water and/or water vapor to the polymer electrolyte fuel cell and/or for collecting water and/or water vapor exhausted from the polymer electrolyte fuel cell; and the peroxide decomposing catalyst containing hardly-soluble carbonate fixed to either of the humidifying channels.
