PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector detecting apparatus capable of reducing the erroneous detection of a motion vector by using the detection results of the presence of a repetitive object. SOLUTION: A correlation detection unit 103 detects correlations among multiple pixel data in a plurality of directions. A repetitive object detection unit 104 detects whether concerned pixel data in which a motion vector is to be detected is located in a repetitive object. A motion vector detection unit 105 decreases a difference value in a direction coincident with a direction of motion vector having detected at a past time when the concerned pixel data is located in the repetitive object and detects a motion vector.
