PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device that has a compact and thin enclosure. SOLUTION: The portable electronic device 1 includes a first case 31 having: a sheet metal member 35 that has a plate-like part 351, a wall 352 erected on the side of a first face 35a of the plate-like part 351 from at least a part of the peripheral edge part of the plate-like part 351, and a hole 353 formed at least in the wall 352; and a resin part 36 that covers the wall 352 while covering a part of the plate-like part 351. The portable electronic device also includes: a second case 32 connected to cover the first case 31 including the metal sheet member 35 from the side of the face on which the wall 352 is erected; an engaging protrusion 393 provided on the inner face of the second case 32 and arranged at a position facing the wall 352; and an engaging recess 37 provided on the side of the outer face of the resin part 36 covering the part where the hole 353 is formed in the metal sheet member 35 in the first case 31 so as to be engaged with the engaging protrusion 393.
