PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a distortion compensation device that can improve compensation effect of nonlinear distortion. SOLUTION: The distortion compensation device includes a compensation data-updating part 15 for updating compensation data in accordance with an error V<SB>er</SB>detected by an error detecting part 14 and reducing the error V<SB>er</SB>detected by the error detecting part 14, and an average error power-calculating part 16 for calculating the average power P<SB>er_ave</SB>of the error V<SB>er</SB>detected by the error detecting part 14, wherein a gate voltage control part 18 controls the characteristic of a power amplifier 9 in accordance with the average power P<SB>er_ave</SB>of the error V<SB>er</SB>detected by the average error power calculating part 16, and reduces the average power P<SB>er_ave</SB>of the error V<SB>er</SB>calculated by the average error power-calculating part 16.
