PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas cooking stove having a safety function of extinguishing or damping a fire when no cooking vessel is placed to be selectively enabled, or disabled or suspended according to the purpose of use. SOLUTION: The safety function extinguishes a fire a predetermined time after a cooking vessel is removed from a trivet 40. The safety function is necessarily enabled when a fire is made and when a cooking vessel is placed. When a cancel switch 5 is pressed, if the safety function is enabled, the safety function is disabled, or if the safety function is disabled, the safety function is enabled. When the cooking vessel is removed from the trivet 40 while the safety function is enabled, the safety function is actuated to extinguish the fire when an extinction timer times out in an extinction standby time.
