ROTARY INPUT DEVICE AND ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary input device that improves operability by interlocking an operation part with a display part to move an image being displayed to an arbitrary position during rotating the operation part when the image reaches the end of a range, and to provide electronic equipment including the rotary input device.

SOLUTION: The rotary input device includes: a rotary operating device;a rotation detection part 14; a rotation detection program 403a which detect rotation angle; an ultrasonic motor 16 for applying a rotational force; a display control program 403a for scrolling an image; a determination program 403c for determining whether or not the rotation angle of the rotary operating device has reached a critical angle; and a rotation control program 403e for reversely rotating the rotary operating device to an initial position or a reference position when the rotation angle of the rotary operating device has reached the critical angle and the rotation operation by an operating person is released. The display control program 403b displays the image at a display position corresponding to the initial position or the reference position when the rotary operating device is reversely rotated to the initial position or the reference position.
